It just doesn’t get any easier than this. Thank you maya*made for sharing the recipe and thank you to my sister for finding it. I used a mix of peanut butter & milk chocolate morsels because in my opinion, there is no such thing as too much peanut butter. Yum. Now would be a good time to make a batch!

Caring Crowns for Charity
Introducing our first annual Caring Crown:
The Bluebird of Happiness Felt Crown
For every Bluebird of Happiness Crown sold, Scarlett Dalila will donate $7.00 to GiveDirectly through GiveWell. This crown is a limited edition and will only be available in the year 2013. In 2014 another Caring Crown will debut, along with another charity to which we will donate. We have never done a crown in metallics before. The tips of the crown and the zigzag trim are silver metallic and make for a stunning display of sparkle. The bluebird carries under its wing a silver metallic heart, spreading happiness and love far and wide.
From www.givewell.org: GiveWell is an independent, nonprofit charity evaluator. We find outstanding giving opportunities and publish the full details of our analysis to help donors decide where to give. Unlike other charity evaluators, which focus solely on financials (assessing administrative or fundraising costs), we focus on how well programs actually work – i.e., their effects on the people they serve.
GiveWell has been written about in major newspapers.
GiveDirectly, the specific charity that will be the recipient of our donations, distributes cash to poor individuals in Kenya. I was lucky enough to spend 4 months in Kenya while my dad was there on sabbatical. It is an amazing country. I am excited to be able to donate to the people of Kenya. I love that they give the money directly to the people in need, letting them decide how it is spent.
Help us spread happiness far and wide. Together we will soar.
Celebrate the day! Let Scarlett Dalila show you the way.

Life. A Patchwork in Pictures.
I got an iPhone for Christmas. Thanks, mom and dad! I was somewhat resistant. I’m not a Luddite. I just didn’t think I really needed it. I don’t stray far from home. Emails can wait until I return….. But that camera. Wow. And zipping a picture off to the people who must see it, whilst standing on the sidewalk, is a real treat. Don’t know how I ever survived without it. The first apps I looked for were photography editing ones. Sometimes pictures look so much better with fun tints to them, or a sparkle added here or a cool frame added there. It’s almost like painting on photographs. I can’t resist. (You don’t need an iPhone. You can use a digital camera, load pics onto your computer and play away. Then….. email away.) Some of my favorite photography editing sites and apps are:
Pixlromatic and the app
With iPhone in hand, I decided to institute A-Picture-A-Day with my sister, who also got an iPhone for Christmas (thanks again, mom and dad) and lives far away in Michigan. I thought it would be a fun way to keep in touch. It’s so easy. It’s so fun. You should set this in motion with someone you love. It’s almost like being there. Almost.
Here are a few of our pictures so far. We are only two weeks in and it’s been oh so much fun.

I’m off to take today’s picture. Celebrate the day!
